III. CONTROL PANELS

A.   CONTROL PANELS - GENERAL:

Linear control panels wrap the edge of the layout. The rail routes are shown on the panels with graphic track diagrams. Turnout toggles, track power block selectors, turnout route indicators (LEDs), train occupancy indicators (LEDs) and other control components are employed on the panels.

Refer to the specific sections of this manual for control component descriptions and specifications.

The track diagrams on the panels are uniformly laid out. Refer to Section B of this article for details.

The control panels are built into the benchwork. Screws through the bottom strip of wood release same and the control panel face. Some panels are retained with additional small screws through their face.

The old 1/8" thick glossy white masonite is currently being replaced with a sandwich (1/16" thick each) of clear (outer) and matte black (inner) plastic.

The control panel faces are uniformly 6" tall. Their widths are as the locations require with regular breaks so as to simplify installation and maintenance.

B.   STANDARD PANEL LAYOUT:

The control panels shall be uniformly laid out as follows in regard to lettering, route angles and spacing, color codes and component indications. Non-uniform panel sections shall be noted in Section C.
