IV. LAYOUT POWER SUPPLIES

Note: Track power is covered in other sections of this manual.

A.   120 VOLT BENCH POWER: 120 volt AC power is distributed around the layout accessible through standard duplex receptacles conveniently positioned under the layout in the benchwork. The bench power is tapped off a house circuit and turned off/on by a switch just to the left of Coldwater. Care should be taken to avoid cutting into, screwing into or otherwise damaging this wiring when working on or near it. The voltage is dangerous!

B.   Main Power House:

The main power section use to be housed under Rimrock/Gilman area. In 1994 we replaced the SWAC throttles with Innovator 3000s. These are housed in a rack against the wall just below the main bench power on/off switch to the left of Coldwater.

Auxiliary power supplies for lighting, accessories, switch machines and signaling systems are still housed in the old location. They are powered by the 120 volt AC bench power.

Power supplies for the auxiliary functions are color coded as follows:

  • REVERSE LOOP DETECTION LIGHTING = (+) Yellow, (-) White
  • SIGNAL POWER = (+) future, (-) future
  • SWITCH MOTOR POWER = (+) Red, (-) Black

Minimum 18 gauge stranded wire.

C.   SWITCH MOTOR POWER:

to be described

D.   SIGNAL POWER:

to be described

E. REVERSE LOOP DETECTION LIGHTING POWER:

to be described

F. STRUCTURE LIGHTING AND ACCESSORY POWER:

to be described
