XV. LAYOUT and ROOM LIGHTING:

A.   LIGHTING - GENERAL:

There are three lighting circuits in the room. One, switched as you come in the west door, controls utility lights over the layout isles. Another, by the station door, controls overhead lighting. And the third, by the utility room door, controls the layout spot lighting.

The first two are a part of the depot house wiring and operate fluorescent lights. Another such house circuit feeds the layout bench power.

Two 120 volt circuits were brought out from the main service panel on the Amtrak side to the sub-panel in the layout room, next to the utility room door. These two circuits feed two each quad gang boxes mounted below the sub-panel which house slide dimmers for the layout lighting circuits. Two auxiliary circuits from the sub-panel also feed the throttles. An auxiliary plug mounted below the gang boxes and another mounted to the left for the TV/VCR are also fed from the sub-panel.

Each of the gang boxes house four 600 watt slide dimmer switches. Plugs for these lighting circuits are mounted on the ceiling and feed track style lighting. The tracks are arranged to provide uniform lighting to the layout below.
